Wood & Rose
« back to press pageOne of Blue & Associates’ most recent retail projects, “Wood & Rose,” is now open for business. Owner, Wendy Vaughan, opened her first retail store, “Bird”, in Los Angeles in 2001. Upon returning to Austin in 2011, she opened up shop on South Lamar. Last year Wendy teamed up with designer, Kim Lewis, and together formed a vision for a new boutique “Wood & Rose” at Lamar Central — an area she felt would best fit her brand.
Designer Kim describes the original space as a men’s clothing store, closed in and in desperate need of good lighting. She based the overall design on the name “Wood & Rose” which she sees as both feminine and tough. As such, there is a blush tone throughout and the architecture is refined and polished. Moving walls not only opened up the space but also encouraged ample natural light. Overall the space encompasses a minimalist modern feel. The globally sourced collection showcases unique patterns, bright colors and statement pieces. Kim explains, “we wanted to create a very neutral canvas so the clothing would pop.”
